Sussex Cross Country League and Relays
The Sussex Athletics offer members a range of cross country races through the autumn and winter. They can be tough, but good fun - and are a great way to feel part of the team and keep up your mileage. The post-run cake experience is second to none!
The events comprise Cross Country Relay Championship, the Sussex Cross Country League, and Masters Cross Country Championship. With the exception of the Masters, these events are open to ALL club members. Masters are open to women over 35 and men over 35. Sussex Athletics are trailing Men's 35-39 category this year.
The Cross Country League consists of four Races which are run at different locations throughout
Sussex.
Club members are encouraged to take part in these events. You don’t need to be really speedy or mega-fit – although taking part in these events can really help with both!
Entry Criteria:
You must be a paid up member of Run Academy Worthing with either 1st or 2nd Claim membership (all club members are either 1st or 2nd Claim).
County qualification for Championships (Relay and Masters) is that all athletes must have a Sussex County qualification through Birth or Residence. Residence requires nine months continuous residence in the County prior to the date of the competition.
Gear:
Run Academy Worthing running vest. These can be purchased here https://www.runacademy.co.uk/buy-kit.html#/
Trail shoes (hybrid trail/XC spikes may suit different courses/conditions). Advice will be given before individual races.
Run Academy Worthing provides a tent (for changing, storage and shelter) and hot drinks. Everyone is encouraged to make and bring a cake for post-run. RAW promotes a car-sharing scheme so that everyone can participate, and to cut emissions.
